Sušica 47

The homestead at the address Sušica 47 represents an important intersection in my genealogical research. Originally, this was the birthplace of the Troha family. My great-grandmother Johana Ivka Troha, b. 1876 was born here, and in 1900 she married Anton Renka, b. 1874. Upon marriage, Anton moved to this address, and thus the house also became the cradle of my branch of the Renka family.

Their children were born in this house, including my grandfather Franc Renko, b. 1901.

Sušica 47

Colloquial name: Pr' Trahu

Due to the origin of the house and the Troha family, the homestead and its inhabitants were colloquially referred to as "Pr' Trahu" (which is a conversational expression for the surname Troha).

Location and house numbers

Over time, the house numbers changed. Later, the house bore the number Sušica 89 (Marijan Renka still keeps the old plate with this number), but today it officially bears the address Čiće 16, 51314 Stara Sušica, Croatia.

Current state

The homestead still stands today and remains in family ownership. It belongs to the descendants of Anton Renka, b. 1902, who occasionally use it during their visits to Croatia. Marijan Renka, who lives in nearby Vrbovsko, mostly takes care of its maintenance.
