Troha

Johana Ivka Troha, b. 1876 (mother of my grandfather Franc Renko, b. 1901) was born in Stara Sušica near Ravna Gora in Croatia. The address Sušica 47 (today Čiće 16, once also Sušica 89) was both her and her grandfather's birthplace. Locally, this house was called "Pr' Trahu".

The oldest ancestor discovered so far on her direct paternal line is Bartol Troha, b. 1775. There is a record for him in the church census of souls (Status Animarum), where it is recorded that the family lived at the address Ravna Gora 157:

SA: Bartol Troha

Despite the challenges of researching so far back in time, I managed to research quite thoroughly the descendants of this family.

Coincidence or distant kinship? Other ancestors with the surname Troha

In genealogical research, it often happens that a certain surname appears multiple times in different branches of the family tree. Thus, in my tree, I have another direct ancestress with this surname: Barbara Troha, b. 1799, who was married to Jakob Renko, my ancestor from the Renko family.

I also found in old books Uršula Troha, b. 1789. She married Andrija Florijan, whose sister was my ancestress Neža Florijan, b. 1791. The latter was married to my ancestor Anton Holjević, b. 1798.

Where did the ancestors of the Troha family live?

Through old records, we can follow the migrations or expansion of this family at the following addresses:

From the book Leksikon priimkov (Janez Keber, 2021): Leksikon priimkov: Troha

Plans for further research

The main goal of my future research is to unravel whether these different individuals with the surname Troha in my family tree are actually related to each other and perhaps originate from a common ancestor, or the same original Troha family.
